“Now learn the parable from the fig tree, Mk.13:20.”

We here at Parable do believe that God’s pouring out of His Spirit was intended for the entire congregation of Jesus Christ universally and the local gatherings “in His Name” are not limited to buildings. For that purpose, a church can be as small as where any two are gathered in His name as Philip with Ethiopian Eunich shows, as do most of the occasions revealed in The Acts displays.

The Home Church spoken of by Paul at the end of first Corinthians may choose to pursue such avenues of church development rather than going after the grandiose ambitions of mega or giga church institutional models. Those who choose to network through this medium when approved to do so and have been screened to assure doctrinal soundness and integrity.

Students who are learning doctrinal distinctions and theology who are desiring to lead home churches will be required,at some point, to pay for each class but are not as yet as staff has not required that as yet. In the interim period between, Pastor Bill will lead the instruction. Pastor Bill’s testimony is available and shall be repeated live for the archives at different junctures. In basis however, christened at birth into a Methodist family paternally whilst having a baptist mother. The expression Pastor Bill will use of himself is that he is a Methobapticostal humorously, being born from above at age 29 in a SBC affiliated church and discipled through the Oasis/New Life groups of churches before returning to the SBC in the late 1990’s. Attending an accelerated degree program that failed to get accredited in the SBC church where the program began, Pastor Bill served as a worship director for a friend who was an AG pastor until they could find a replacement. Pastor Bill devoted himself to studies to complete his degree program which had been changed to a Church Planting accreditation through the Inland Empire Baptist Association and NAMB whom recognized it.

Stepping out in faith to plant Valley of Decision Christian Fellowship in 2003, the classmate who had signed on to be treasurer for Board requirements withdrew without warning as the Non Profit status for VoD was recognized. Not being able to find any interested replacement Pastor Bill reluctantly spoke with his secretary and filed for dissolution. Valley of Decision and The Valley of Decision facing all believers throughout their christian pilgrimage here has never left Pastor Bill’s heart. In 2019, or the beginning of 2020 with the dedication of the brazen altar in Jerusalem, the Lord once again stirred up the fire in Pastor Bill to get busy as time is short!

Pastor Bill, the founder of Parable, has seen the pros and cons of both as a Church Planter out of the SBC’s North American Missions Board and had initially been convinced of the efficacy of the cell Church models having no need of maintaining an edifice as it became an issue to many in funding. Yes, God shall provide. But for what? One’s own grandiose ambitions? Or rather for Glorifying His Name in Christ Jesus? Annual or semi-annual gatherings can be maintained by renting vacant halls and are not necessarily required weekly. Particularly after COVID-19 has demonstrated. Small gatherings are just as effective, and at times MORE so than giant corporate ones. There are hundreds of ministries presented on line but We Are NOT to forsake the gathering of ourselves together! There are NO stipulations placed upon that by the apostle however, nor can there be without violating our Lord’s own words about two or more. If you’re the only person you know who is a christian in your immediate circle or sphere of influence, strike up a conversation with others until you discover someone else who may demonstrate an interest in the things of God and then there shall be two gathered there. SIMPLE. For your benefit Parable exists to give sound doctrine so as to build you up in the Faith, once and for all, given unto the saints.

The Home Church movement is as old as The Gospel. Jesus went to various peoples homes to eat with them to discuss the kingdom. We find this thru-out the Gospels and what we would see was heads of those households would get baptized to become priests in the Kingdom of God. Priests among them not of them but having an anointing from the Anointed ONE not to Lord it over them but here to reason with them.

As Jesus instituted the church, a hierarchical system began to develop. The first question was who is the reigning Episcopate to preside over the church? Although Simon-Peter was initially in Jerusalem after The Day of Pentecost, there was still a plurality of Governing elders. The Lord began sending each out. At that time, the brother of our Lord in the flesh Jacob, who we call James, would be named the presiding Episcopate (meaning faithful one) in Jerusalem. Peter went to Rome to start that church and that was when the Imperium of a Magisterium began at Rome. Rome being the rod of iron spoken of in Rev ch. 12 verse 5. Before the Emperor Constantine changed the Roman Capitol Byzantium by calling it Constantinople.

The Apostles would go and appoint presbyters in the cities. They would start congregations in and from them a Pastor(or shepherd) that would be elected chief, an overseer of each community. Community gave way to region, and the rest being history.

During The Protestant Reformation, questions of roles developed as the institutions had corrupted themselves, as so often they do. All we need to do is look at the issues of infidelity in marriage, and we can clearly see how that leaven that’s allowed to remain rises puffing up the loaves with fallen human pride and deceit. After the Reformers, the Puritans of England would really dig into the Koine Greek and work to displace traditions of men from Scripture in church practices.

One reformer by the name of Ulrich Zwingli leaned towards Baptist polity and would defend their position as separatists from the secular world’s human governments which the church had corrupted itself with. Zwingli was by no means the patriarch of the Baptists as that distinction belongs to John, called the Baptist. With his disciple John, who would be told, along with Simon-Peter’s brother Andrew, to follow Jesus as He presented Himself for baptism by John. So apostolic-ally, the Apostle John would be looked to by most Baptists as their Patriarchal figurehead rather than Peter. Peter would become the see or Episcopate to the Roman Church after establishing it with Jon-Mark. The adolescent at the time of our Lord’s arrest, escaping naked from his jailers, Peter is under secretary from where we gain that Gospel.

Schism always existed between the Apostles as the flesh is weak and wranglings would go on amongst them about who would be greatest in The Kingdom as it was being brought into being. Patriarchies would develop schism over issues, even more pronounced by Constantine’s changing the location of the Roman capitol that led to The Great Schism, occurring at the change of the First Millennia.

By the third century into that new millennium noticeable corruptions by the hierarchy were showing themselves beginning to become “intolerable” and within a few brief centuries that would spark a Protestant Reformation. The Reformers decided upon Sola Scriptura to be the unifying rallying point but Scripture only tends to minimize the role of The Holy Spirit’s working within the church through that age. So would begin The evangelicals out from England at the earliest time of the eighteenth century which initiated “The Great awakening” to God’s presence in power by His sending of Him. Dry orthodoxy would give way to “The Revivalists”.

Revivals? Those in and of themselves become empty expressions of hopes and dreams after a few generations only finding sparks in movements of The Holy Spirit periodically since A remnant. The Parable of the Fig Tree HCN is just “one” such as them.. The primitive church meeting in homes and most revivals in American church history not starting in denominations but from those revivals called Great Awakenings. Not too far back “The Jesus Movement” initiated yet another that lasted for about 40 years before fading once again into generational passivity.

Parable of the Fig Tree HCN was established to create a network of revivalist hopefuls actively praying and seeking God’s Face during final hours prior to our Lord’s Return. The Parable of the Fig Tree found in LK 13 a warning to all Lukewarm Churches on the brink of being spewed out of our Lord’s mouth for not keeping their first love alive, like it was when Jesus came the first time to Jerusalem and the temple system of that day.

The world, this secular arena, not our friends nor God’s but a constant temptation to become too friendly with and ship wrecking our faith as James said “Friendship with the world is enmity with God.” The Apostle reiterated that with “Bad company ruins good character.” So, we are not to forsake the gathering of ourselves together even in a COVID crisis. We exist to assist facilitation in doing that as a network.

The original Evangelicals are NOT to be confused with Neo-evangelicalism of the twentieth century, Leaning towards allowingernity in secularly based rationality is currently corrupting itself.

"As I reflected upon this verse from the Gospel of Mark, the Lord really generated a move within me to get back out into the mission field, bringing this to everyone’s attention,”His return is no longer imminent but at the very door!” We need to be about His work while it is still day. Here, I thought I was retired from church planting but like Caleb, wasn’t!"
